about
'Denali' is the first single from the upcoming debut album 'Mantra' by Newcastle extreme metal band Enviktas; one that the band has been working on tirelessly. The name of this track is inspired by a young wolf sponsored by the band, Denali, who was rescured through Wolf Mountain Sanctuary in Colorado. The name holds the meaning of 'Great One' or 'Highest Mountain'. After research, it was also found to be the name of the highest mountain peak in North America.
There is an abundance of knowledge to be gained from animals and given Enviktas' spiritual connection to nature, the band believed this to be a significant theme to compose the song: strength, solitude and solidarity, through the eyes of a wolf. The lyrics tell a powerful story and the track moves much like the life of a wolf - filled with ups and downs, controlled then chaotic, sweet and then sour.
The sound has been very much inspired by Rotting Christ and the band is honoured and grateful to have the legendary Sakis Tolis from the Greek extreme metal band feature here - a true inspiration to Enviktas. Sakis Tolis has brought his colossal sounding vocals to the fore to help us create this track. Also featuring on 'Denali' is one of Australia's finest drummers, Robin Stone of Norse and Gods of Eden fame, bringing his majestic and relentless style to 'Denali'. In addition to this, with his musical alchemist skills, Ryan Huthnance of Emissary Studios masterfully brought the track together, making it sound polished, massive and giving it that punch we wanted. To have his trademark sound in our music is indeed, an honour.
From the darkest depths of Newcastle, Australia, come Enviktas, a four-piece extreme, black metal band, it’s members dedicated to creating some of the most crushing, unorthodox and powerful music you could possibly come across. Combining sounds from around the world and inculcating elements of folk, traditional and atmospheric music with their brand of extreme metal, Enviktas do not compromise on the uniqueness of their style. Investing a great deal of time and energy in the creation and composition of every piece, the band also include an appealing theatrical touch to their music, especially in their live performances thus earning a respectable reputation for delivering a magnificent show.
